Whitby is home to Canada's largest municipally owned and operated recreation facility, Iroquois Park Sports Centre. Located on 50 acres of parkland, the Centre has six arenas, two swimming pools, elite athletic training facilities, six tennis courts, five baseball diamonds, a soccer pitch, licensed restaurant, banquet facilities and more.
The Town operates a number of indoor facilities for organized team sports, as well as other recreation and leisure activities. You can book your child's next birthday party at the Brooklin Community Centre and Library, sign up for a Health Club membership or enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Whitby harbour at the first-class Avalon Lounge at Port Whitby Marina, a 420-slip award-winning marina with a public launch ramp.
Many arenas have Community Centres that provide space for recreational and community programming. Other dedicated community centres like Heydenshore Pavilion, the Centennial Building, Brooklin Community Centre, Spencer's Community Centre and Ashburn Community Centre can be rented for special events. Visit Facility Rentals for additional information.
The Whitby Seniors' Activity Centre offers affordable programs that promote healthy and active aging. A variety of programs are available from creative arts to computers, fitness, history, language and music.
For active living outdoors, the Town of Whitby maintains 114 parks comprising 900 acres of active parkland, over 1000 acres of passive open space, and approximately 60 kilometres of trails.
