Garbage Collection and Schedule

Garbage is collected bi-weekly (every other week) on your regular collection day.

• There is a four-bag limit per household. Each bag over the limit must be tagged with a Whitby-issued bag tag.
• All garbage must be in bags. Garbage containers are not allowed in Whitby's program due to the design of two-stream collection trucks. 
• Maximum size of bags: 66 cm wide by 91 cm tall (26 inches by 36 inches) at the time of purchase. Oversized bags will not be collected. 
• Maximum weight per bag: 20 kilograms (44 pounds). Bags that break open when lifted will not be collected.

Bag Tags and CFC Stickers

Residents setting out more than four bags of garbage on their collection day are required to purchase bag tags and place a tag on each bag over the four-bag limit. 

Whitby bag tags cost $1.50 each and are sold in sheets of five. Bag tags and CFC removal stickers are sold at the following locations:

Special Consideration

Residents requiring special consideration on the bag limit due to medical conditions, or who have three children under the age of three, should contact the Town of Whitby at 905.668.3437.
