Extreme Cold Weather Warning in Effect for Whitby

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for Whitby. The extreme cold temperatures are expected to last for several days.

Warnings are issued when cold temperatures or wind chill increase health risks. Due to extreme cold temperatures, there is an increased risk of hypothermia and frostbite. Health Canada offers several tips to help you stay safe such as dressing in layers, covering exposed skin and limiting time outdoors. The detailed listing is available here.

The Town of Whitby has experienced some hydro outages that began yesterday, Wednesday, December 27. While most outages have been restored, we understand that Whitby Hydro is working to restore power to approximately 61 customers that remain without power. Customers still without power are encouraged to call 1.844.278.1432.
